About Us
The Directors of SkyView Solutions have extensive experience in natural resources management, aerial photography, satellite remote sensing and geographic information systems.
Dr Leasie Felderhof has over 20 years of experience in coordinating activities related to natural resource management and biodiversity conservation. She was instrumental in establishing an on-ground vegetation monitoring system, as well as a GIS for recording national park management activities. Leasie’s particular interest is landscape-scale fire management and the associated patterning of the vegetation. She has practical land management experience in the horticultural and pastoral industries and is directly involved in farm management on the Atherton Tableland.
Professor David Gillieson has over twenty five years of experience in vegetation mapping and assessment using aerial photography, airborne videography and satellite imagery. He has led a major project assessing woody vegetation change across the northern Australian savannas. This involved a combination of field surveys, air photo analysis and satellite image analysis in the Kimberleys (Western Australia), Victoria River District (Northern Territory) and Cape York Peninsula (Queensland). He has also carried out remote sensing research on the monitoring of rainforest canopy disturbance by cyclones, weed mapping in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, fire mapping in Cape York Peninsula and assessing the quality of riparian vegetation.
John Pollock has over thirty years of experience in leading applied research and policy development in primary production systems and is currently a Board member of BSES Ltd (Bureau of Sugar Research Stations). He currently works with state and commonwealth agencies in fisheries and natural resource management as a facilitator and advisor. He has broad experience in policy and practices, building farming, environmental and resource management systems and the regulatory and incentive based frameworks supporting these systems.
